Walking alone on a darkly lit street. The pavement is still wet from the rain that passed by that night, glowing against the flickering light from a poorly maintained street lamp. Its just 10:45pm, but traffic was light. One or two cars pass by while I traverse the street. The air is cold... damp... like a prelude to an impending doom. The coldness courses within my body, invading my feet, hurting my hands and filling me with melancholy. Bitterness stagnates the air. This doesn't help me much...as I walk on to an empty home.
